Alright, I'm in love with Everquest 2. It just came out last week and Timmy told me that I should play on his server (Innothule if anyone cares). Well, I created an ogre and trained him to be a fighter. Now I am on my way to becoming a "bruiser" which is the name they give to evil monks (monks=good, bruisers=evil, but almost identical stats and skills).
Timmy and his friend Greg both played together to about level 15 and it didn't hold their attention. They are considering trying out World of Warcraft which is supposed to be really awesome as well, and I might try it someday myself. However, WOW seems to be VERY packed right now and I'm keen on having areas to myself in an MMORPG (more-pig is how I pronounce this acronym for Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). I don't group very much and would solo most of my adventuring life if possible.
In EQ2 at least, this is possible. The EQ2 team designed the entire game to be accessible to soloers at ALL levels of play, all the way up to level 50. So far I'm level 17 and loving the game. Not TOO many people, but still plenty of people to talk to and buy/sell/trade with. If WOW gets a bit more mature and the population starts to spread itself out to all areas of the world (as opposed to everyone crowding the lower level areas like now), I will give it a try.
Anybody playing EQ2 besides me? If so, send a /tell to HappyBigFun on the Innothule server. Actually, you can send a tell from ANY Sony Online game (Star Wars Galaxies, EQ1 or EQ2) by typing in this command:
/tell eq2.Innothule.HappyBigFun Hey there!
Besides this, my second game, Cedric, is completely done and is undergoing some additional testing currently. If you want a "pre-release" copy of this game, let me know. Its a 2D platformer that really plays well with a joypad and plays like ass on the keyboard. From now on, all games will be mouse/keyboard centric! Who has a controller for their PC anyway?Current Mood: tired

I don't keep this thing up, but I guess I should since its one of the only links I have to some of my favorite people :)
I went to Irene's Birthday/Harry Potter party and it was VERY fun. Got into some great conversations, drank a bit, played some games, ate a lot, just general fun.
I recently made a "gallery" application for my household to use for pictures to display on the internet. One of Mary's recent updated included an LJ Cut that held about a billion full-size pictures all on the same page. Of course, my 128kbs DSL connection didn't handle that too well so people saw a lot of red x's.
Anyway, I was using Apache before, and it suited me fine. It was a honking pain-in-the-butt to get set up just the way I want, but once I finally figured it all out I was set. If I wanted to install a gallery application I would have to install some sort of dynamic server language. The thought of trying to get Apache to work with even the languages designed with it in mind scared me. I had tried getting Jakarta (JSP) to work and was almost pulling my hair out. Finally I found out that it will only process .jsp pages from its own install directory! WTF is going on there? Piece of shit. I know Apache is supposed to be amazing and all that, but what good is it when it fights you tooth and nail on EVERY FUCKING THING? So I gave up.
I uninstalled Apache, turned on IIS, set a few well-worded properties using a comfortable GUI interface and BAM! I had ASP.NET at my fingertips, which makes PHP, Pearl and JSP look like child's play. ASP sucks really bad, but ASP.NET is awesome.
I wrote a simple gallery application in C# in about a day, took my time for a couple days tweaking it here and there and am finally pretty happy with it. It has NO colors or styles at all (except bold/italics in some spots), but it works great. It re-sizes images as they are put in, doesn't make a ton of crap on the server and maintains all properties in one XML file per album. It is completely based on the files themselves, so if I wanted to add 200 pics, I just need to drag them into the albums folder. The page will create a thumbnail if it isn't already there, and will create a smaller "viewable" image of the picture if it is too large.
I could go on, but I will spare you.
Right now, our server connection is down because the IP Address changed AGAIN, so I have to fix it when I get home. It should be back online by tomorrow around noon.
The address will be: http://www.happybigfun.com/PhotoAlbum.

I haven't even seen my LJ in god knows how long.
Sorry everyone :(
I will explain everything:
...
No, there is too much. I will sum up:
Married life is treating me well. Going to the gym and starting to lose some weight again. Playing darts a lot. Love my job more then I ever though humanly possible (still the webmaster for radmd.com). Getting along with everyone one I meet in general and am pretty happy over all :)
Almost done with my second game: Cedric the Little Demon. You can read about it at www.happybigfun.com if you are curious.
I don't really know what else to say. I have been playing a lot of RuneScape lately. Its an MMORPG that has a totally free mode and a paid mode ($5 a month).
I love my wife. I love my Mom. I love my nephew Timmy. I love just about everybody when I think about it <3

» More cellphone-thieif info
Found out where the cell phone thief took my phone on Friday. Straight to Scandia. The phone call that Mary made to it (and it was answered) was received by the cell-tower at Hillsdale and Madison (right by the I80 Madison Exit).
Now we know that the theif also goes to scandia, and was there on Friday. Will add this info to the police report.

» My cell phone was stolen from RVGL
I left my cell phone at RVGL by accident. Someone turned it in to the golf counter and I was told that Keith (RVGL arcade tech) had locked it up in the Lost/Found cabinet, but it was safe. Unfortunately, when I got there, Keith had just left and nobody currently working had the keys to the cabinet. No problem, a manager would show up in about 30 minutes and unlock for me. I left to return 30 minutes later and we all discovered that the cell phone was gone.
Distraught, I went home and talked with Mary, who said she just tried calling me. Someone strange answered the phone identifying himself as "Keith" (I'm not joking...the guy actually said he was Keith when asked).
That was a nice cell phone, top of the line Motorola Flip w/ all bells + whistles. Now its gone.
Makes me sick.

» Not going to read my friends pages :(
Well, I'm back from my 2 week vacation in Maui. It was awesome. Just wanted to let you all know that I am not reading all the updates everyone did in the last 2 weeks for 2 reasons:
- For some reason (8-bit number?) I can only go back a max of 254 entries on my friends' pages. That will only bring me back most of the way.
- I don't have the time or the energy to read the remaining 254 entries. If there is anything that you would like me to have read, just let me know and I will read it :)
BTW: I have always kept up on reading all of my friends' pages. If you are on my friends list, I usually read most (if not all) of every entry you made. Unless the entry was especially big and non-important sounding, that is...in which case I just skimmed it :)

FAQ: Why wasn't I invited to your wedding? Answer: Almost nobody was. Only immediate family is at this wedding, so don't feel bad...mkay? There will be less then 25 people total (including the couple), so its a simple wedding with no friends.

» Yesterday was a pretty bad day. Worst I've seen in a while.
Some very bad things happened yesterday. First off, let me say this: My websites are down. DO NOT GO TO HAPPYBIGFUN.COM or WORSHIPRICK.COM if there is any chance a page therein is in your browser's cache. I need those pages.
1. Mary got in a pretty major car accident involving a 5 car pile-up. She wasn't the initial cause, but she wasn't entirely without fault either. The $1000 deductible will hit us pretty hard, but I think we can really tighten our belts in order to make it up before our honeymoon. I hope. Luckily, nobody was seriously injured. Mary will be sore, but that's about the end of the injuries.
2. Mary was up late last night feeling very sick. A combination of some pain killers and major (dis-)stress, no doubt. I think she is feeling better today. I hope <3
3. My webserver's harddrive crashed. This time, I know it crashed with no chance of recovery. The funny scraping and pinging sounds coming from it pretty much sealed its fate. Happybigfun, worshiprick and all the hosted pictures will be offline for a while until I can afford a new hard drive. I looked for prices on data recovery, and found that physical hard drive crashes cost well over 1000.00 at the minimum, so no chance of that happening. Luckily, the only thing that was on there was my entire website.
Keeping in mind #3, I am asking for a favor from anyone that has ever been to happybigfun.com. DO NOT GO THERE RIGHT NOW! If you have looked at it in the PAST, can you please check your browser's cache and see if it exists there at all? Any page would be wonderful, especially index.html, menu.html and any .css files (cold.css, hot.css, etc.). If you have any of these files, please save them and send them to me :)
What a fucked up day, huh? I hope today goes better =/

When was the first personal computer invented? Apple ][? Apple 1? Altair? Nope, those all happened in the 70's. Try going back OVER TWENTY FREAKING YEARS!
Clicky
I don't know how many people will think that's interesting, but I found it pretty damn cool! :)

My friend Steve is pretty damn awesome. He drew some cartoon-pics of me, himself and (upon my request) Timmy. They are VERY much Steve-afied, as was expected, and they all came out pretty cool. Everyone agrees that Steve did himself the best, but Tim's and mine are still fuxxing awesome 8-)

From TheOnion.com:
Christ Returns For Some Of His Old Things JERUSALEM—After being away for nearly two millennia, Jesus Christ triumphantly returned Monday to pick up some of His old belongings. "I realize this isn't exactly how the world's Christians were imagining it, but I left a really comfortable pair of sandals in Galilee, and I wanted them back," said Christ, who died for our sins. "Also, I'm pretty sure I lent [Apostle] Simon Peter my best goblet at the Last Supper." This marks Christ's first return since 76 A.D., when he thought he'd forgotten to turn off his coffee pot.
In other news, I finally passed the Naoki Standard Oni on DDR. I thought I would never get through D2R! I'm quite proud :)

» DAMN YOU ZONEEDIT.COM!!! (geek stuff ahead)
I decided I would be smart and use a 3rd party (free) service to do act as my nameservers. ZoneEdit.com came VERY highly recommended by several people on a forum I was browsing through.
Today, PacBell crashed for about 15 minutes, giving me a new IP address. "No biggie" I thought, "I'll just go find my new IP and update ZoneEdit.com." And then, come to find out, ZONEEDIT.COM IS DOWN! The whole fucking site. Well, you get what you pay for.
So I went back to my registrar (joker.com) and decided to take advantage of their nameservers. I had no problems there at all. I should have used them in the first place.
The upshot of all this is that my site might be down for a couple of days again. Sorry everyone :(
